Video – What is Google Buzz?

If you have been reading newspapers or following tweets, you know there have been some privacy issues around a new social tool called Google Buzz.

What exactly are these privacy issues and do they really expose your data / emails to outsiders? Dave Winer has a nice summary of the whole Google Buzz debacle in simple English.

When Google rolled out Buzz last week they activated an unknown number of users and chose people for them to follow automatically based on who they email most frequently with. Presumably these people had to also be on Gmail. And the list of people you follow is public. Therefore the list of people you email with most frequently is now public. link.

There are reports that EFF may lodge a formal complaint at FTC against Google for making private email lists public.
