Mark you calendars. Registrations for .me personalized web domains will go live in the next few hours and the domain names will be issued on a first-come first-served basis.
If you are looking to create a personal website or blog, consider getting a .me domain instead of .com or .name because .me not just sounds better, the chances of getting a domain name of your choice are also relatively high.
Say your name is Jessica and you plan to launch a personal website but the web domain jessica.com is already registered. You then try other common options like .org or .net but unfortunately, none of them are available.
What you can not try is different permutations and combinations of domain names - something like jessi.ca, j.essi.ca je.ssi.ca, jes.si.ca or jes.si/ca - they are all valid domains and if you’re lucky, some of them may be up for grabs.
Last week, I acquired an existing web domain digitalinspiration.com from a domain reseller since the URL matches just perfectly with my blog title - Digital Inspiration.
The web domain broker company initially quoted $1,600 for this domain but after some quick negotiations, we closed the deal at around $1,100.
A standard whois listing of any website (example) contains contact information of the website owner, domain expiration date, name of the domain’s registrar and few other technical details.
This information is public and can be accessed via any of the available whois lookup services.
Now domain registrar Network Solutions has come with a new service that allows domain owners to add some more details to their WHOIS listing.
