After hypermarkets, department stores, supermarkets and malls, Pantaloon Retail is focussing on rolling out a chain of small discount stores. The small stores will be neighbourhood stores called KB’s Fair Price, with limited varieties and limited services.  The margins on these would be low, but it would offset by economies of scale and lower costs.

The largest retail chain in India, Subhiksha having 780 stores in 9 states is replicating its success in grocery, OTC Pharma drugs to mobile phones and its accessories. Subhiksha Mobile currently has 145 mobile stores and plans to open 1000 more in next 6-8 months.
