Bharti Airtel to shift focus to non-voice services
India’s largest and world’s 3rd largest wireless telecom operator, Bharti Airtel is restructuring its telecom business into nine vertical businesses each under a separate head. This is in departure to its existing structure where the businesses are under 3 heads – Wireless Mobile Services, Telemedia Services (DTH, Broadband, IPTV, Fixed Line) and Enterprise services (undersea cable, NLD/ILD).

Bharti Airtel to start DTH and IPTV services this fiscal
Bharti Airtel is entering the broadcasting segment with Direct-to-Home (DTH) and Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) services. It has got approval from I&B Ministry for its DTH venture. IPTV will be launched by December 2007 in partnership with Cisco and initially limited to six cities.

Airtel Broadband & Telephone Services has partnered with Google to offer customised Homepage and associated web-based services powered by Google to Airtel broadband customers free of cost. Under the agreement, Airtel will offer a portal which includes Google Search, Gmail, Google Talk, Google Docs and Spreadsheets, NetXpert for troubleshooting,  Web SMS, Security Services, gaming and music download services.
