Got a problem finding the correct printer driver for your Windows Vista computer? Or did some of your software programs and hardware devices stop working after you installed SP1? Or are you facing trouble while installing Vista SP1?
Well, you may stop hunting blogs and web forums for solutions and contact Microsoft directly over phone, email or web chat as they now offer free and unlimited tech support to all Windows Vista customers worldwide who are using Vista Service Pack 1.
The offer is valid worldwide until March 18, 2009.
To get started, go here and pick your country. Here are direct links to Microsoft toll-free phone numbers in India, United States, UK, Australia, Singapore and France.
The offer may not be used with pirated copies of Windows Vista as you would require the 20 digit Product ID for filing a support. Right click My Computer and choose Properties. The Product ID is mentioned under "Windows Activation" – thanks Abhishek.

Well, I was using it few days back. But now roll-backed to XP. Very late effort from MS :(

I wonder if the toll free number would have an automated message that says, ‘Pl. try restarting the PC, before you talk to the operator’!!!
I can’t help thinking that MS is doing this to compete not against Mac or GNU\Linux, but against XP!
Anyway, the way i see it, customers of MS have been paying for support by paying for the OS but will be able to get it only now, ostensibly free of cost.

While I was trying to register a problem I got this error: An unknown application error occurred. Please try again in a few minutes.
Damn!!! why cant they fix their support site first, before fixing their products.

I have a Canon MP530 4 way inkjet Pixma, and I formerly had a Lexmark X6100. I managed to delete most all files relating to the Lexmark, except WIA Twain, in the Twain_32 DS file, which is in my C drive, of my Compaq Vista Home Basic Hardrive. Canon Techs tell me the WIA Twain is blocking my Canon MP530 Scanner from working. Lexmark told me to contact Microsoft to delete WIA Twain in my DS file in the C drive. When I attempt to use MP Navigator, I get the message; “X Cannot communicate with scanner code 2,155,0.” Please advise me what steps to take to delete the WIA Twain file, which I have been told by Canon Technicians, will allow my Cannon MP530 to work again, with MP Navigator? I appreciate your help on this.

I got the same issue on my Canon MP500. As per Canon advise, the problem resolved with another USB cable. However, the requirement is very high. It needs to be a short cable (1M) or a camera type USB cable (with a signal amp?). Therefore, the problem seems to be due to hardware. Would it be chip set or PC problem that cannot send or receive signal easily? My new PC is Acer M5641.

The camera type USB cable refers the cable with built-in ferrite cores. It seems one of the party volidate the USB standard and caused the problem. Appriciate if who can advise or find out which party goes wrong.

Need to know how to change the SID in Vista after imaging each government system before attaching it to the Domain.
Each specific make/model system is set up with Vista SDC, (Stand. Desktop Config.), according to ACC compliance & then an image is made to load all the other like systems faster. In the past, we used GHOSTWALKER to change the SID immediately after imaging. However, GHOSTWALKER is not Vista compatible. Is there a way to change the SID in Vista before attaching it to the Domain? Can’t seem to find anything that works. Let us know.
Thanks.
