Will Google Chrome Gain Acceptance on Corporate Desktops ?

Michael Schaffner did an in-depth review of Google Chrome and says that he will use it for personal use but Chrome will have more difficulty being accepted in the corporate world due to issues with Outlook Web Access and that it will place additional burden on the corporate IT support helpdesk.

1. Companies that grant users administrative rights on their PCs (thereby allowing users to download Chrome on their own) will find the IT groups less than enthusiastic about the additional support load. See: Portable Chrome for USB.

2. Chrome does appear to work with Outlook Web Access but there’s no preview window. Chrome also gives you fewer calendar options. It only lets you choose daily or weekly views, compared with IE, which gives you the option of a monthly view.

Chrome’s Corporate Review – "What [Google] they’ve done is nice, but I think it will take much more to make significant inroads to IE’s market share."

For the record:

it is not that Chrome (or Mozilla for that matter) cannot display Outlook Web Access. It’s just that the server software from Microsoft does not allow other browsers than Internet Explorer.
