The New Gmail App from Google Disappoints

Google today released a brand new Gmail app for the iPhone and iPad so you no longer have to use the Safari browser or Apple’s Mail app to check your emails.

But before you hit the download button, please check the following screenshot images of the Gmail iOS app that almost speak for themselves. The app is buggy and almost feels like you’re opening a modern HTML5 website inside an outdated IE 6 browser.

I wonder how Apple even approved this because, poor UI aside, most people I know have seen error messages the first time they launched the Gmail app on their iPhones or iPads. It may not be a bad idea to wait until the next version hits the iTunes App store.

Update: Google has temporarily removed the Gmail app from the iTunes store.
