Ben Worthen compares iWorks ’08 with Microsoft Office – It seems every tech company is releasing productivity software that competes with Microsoft Office. Now it’s Apple’s turn. The company recently released iWorks ’08, its collection of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.

Apple iWorks 08 looks good and is relatively easy to use, but it isn’t a replacement for Microsoft Office – at least if you work in an office and need to do officey things. The biggest knock against using it in the workplace is probably the spreadsheet software, which doesn’t have a lot of the features that Excel users rely on, leading Ars Technica to conclude that the engineers probably didn’t talk to a lot of people who use spreadsheets.
