Capture & Save Snapshots of Dynamic Web Pages with Iterasi

Web pages can change every passing moment. Open the Google News or Yahoo! News website in a browser tab and then reload the page after 5 minutes – chances are that what you see now on the screen is completely different from the previous version.

Once a page has changed, there’s no foolproof methods to retrieve the previous versions. Consider yourself lucky if you Google or Yahoo bots have cached a copy of that page – grab that soon because Google will overwrite their cache if it discovers that the source has changed.

There’s however a perfect solution to this problem – Iterasi. It’s a free browser add-in plus web service that lets you save snapshots of these “dynamic websites” that are exact replicas and include all elements of the web page include images and CSS styles.

You create a free account at Iterasi and then install their free add-in available for IE and Firefox. This will add some buttons to your browser toolbar – now if you come across a page that you want to save forever, hit the “notarize” button and that page will get saved to your Iterasi account for as long as you like.

And since the page gets stored on Iterasi servers and not on your hard drive, you may access your saved clipping from any computer in the world that’s connected to the web.

You can also add tags and descriptions to the web pages so it gets easy for you to organize and retrieve stuff in future. And there’s no need for you to worry about privacy because Iterasi supports private sharing as well.
