Orkut users in India can now interact with their other Orkut friends using any mobile phone that can send or receive SMS text messages.
Earlier such a thing was only possible if you had an Internet enabled phone.
With Orkut SMS, you can either leave a message on any of your friends’ scrapbook or retrieve the contact information of any Orkut friend via an SMS message.
To begin using the service, you’ll have to associate your mobile phone number with your Orkut account. Full instructions here.
The service isn’t free and the Orkut short code currently works only with select cellular operators. Also, this Orkut SMS facility is something new for users in India but has been available in Brazil for long. Thanks Rahul.

So, finally Orkut is following the Twitters path. This was expected. With this, Orkut addicts will have a new way to increase their mobile bills.
