The newfound bonhomie between Yahoo & Google is not just about AdSense, the two companies are connecting their popular IM clients as well.
That means you no longer require any third-party hacks to chat with your Yahoo! Messenger friends using Google Talk and vice-versa.
From the PR: “Yahoo! and Google agreed to enable interoperability between their respective instant messaging services bringing easier and broader communication to users.”
Microsoft & Yahoo already offer interoperability between Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger so this gives Yahoo! users the best of both worlds – they can talk with friends on Google Talk as well as those who on are MSN Messenger.

This is going to be an excellent service by yahoo & Google. There seems to be an excellent understanding between yahoo & Google after MS’s failure of overtaking yahoo.May be in the future we may see adsense in yahoo mail and yahoo ads in gmail.Good going Yahoo & Google.

Brilliant! This is the best news I’ve heard in all of this year!

Thats really going to be good sign. Keeping pace with all the messengers is really a tough task. If we can chat with all our contacts from GTalk, Yahoo and MSN, it will reduce the number of messengers that we have to logged in. Hope this will come to reality soon.

Now the only thing left is for Google to integrate MSN/Windows Live (Dead :P ) Messenger and Gmail users will be able to chat with all the major IM networks. Crossing my fingers…

wait, YM talks to MSN, and now YM also talks to Gtalk, does that mean by installing YM, I can chat with both user on MSN and Gtalk? does that mean YM will be the so called ‘bridging’ messenger?

you can pidgin/gaim and chat from a single client. You need not wait for yahoo & google merge for that.

yeah, i can’t wait… more ads… how nice… bring it on!

That really is nice.. however, more people use social networks than chat now, don’t they? Even so, I wonder if we’ll be able to add MSN messenger friends to our GChat any time soon (by the looks of it, no, but one can hope).

@Aimee: Google and Microsoft? I seriously doubt that will happen any time soon, seeing as how Google was the final straw that made Microsoft definitely back away from Yahoo! (I think). Maybe after 2050…

I have not access to Microsoft messenger at work…so I cannot chat as I use google talk now.
When is coming the marriage gtalk&MMessenger?

Great news. Any expected timeline?

I hope it would be sooner… The reason I’m still using Yahoo Messenger client is that most of my friends use it and if I don’t use YM, I can’t communicate with them… I heard that Google Talk client/software is fast and that it is not bulky with unnecessary features. Please, please, please make it sooner!
