Will Google Acquire Blinkx Video Search ?

blinkx-logo Blinkx, the largest and most innovative video search engine on the web, could be the next acquisition target of Google or NewsCorp according to Bloomberg and Reuters.

Blinkx is way ahead of other video search engines because it converts audio portion of the video into text using speech recognition technology and makes it searchable.

This will be an interesting one to watch because until now, YouTube can only search videos if they have matching keywords in the titles or the descriptions - blinkx can make video search much more relevant by indexing speech.

Definitely would shoot up the google’s index.Have heard that google is in talks with yahoo for putting text ads beside their search bar.Now again this move.Well,Google is going to a position where no other company can even dream of reaching near to it.Now, it would be interesting to see what microsoft’s move is.Its deal with yahoo is nearly going to be history with google’s move and now as a revenge what MS will be doing should be an interesting video to watch.

I don’t find any strong reason for Google to acquire
Blinkx. Google already have a video search feature at http://video.google.com/. What’s different Blinkx is going than Google video ?
