Alexa rankings may not always make sense but for the first time, Google has managed to grab the top slot on Alexa pushing Yahoo to rank #2.

Since January 5th, when Google first surpassed Yahoo officially, the #1 rank has bounced back and forth between Google and Yahoo to account for the fact that Google traffic generally takes a small dip on weekends.
YouTube.com takes the third position followed by live.com of Microsoft. [via]
When it comes to Compete Rankings, Google managed to surpass Yahoo for the #1 rank exactly an year ago.

When we compare on Alexa, it shows Google has more traffic than yahoo. However Alexa’s top 500 sites list still shows yahoo.com as #1 and Google as #2. link

WhooHoo….Google has landed as Number #1.
It’s about time Google outstripped yahoo & Microsoft.
Let’s hope they remain there always, after all, they are a dynamic leader in everything about the web.

Why would it not make sense that Yahoo! has always been at the top? I’m far from liking Yahoo!, but it does make sense how they’ve been #1 for so long.
Yahoo is popular in Asia. I think everyone knows how well connected Asian countries are, and Yahoo! is really popular there, as is Windows Live/MSN in Europe, and Google in the U.S.
Yahoo! also has a lot of highly-trafficked properties, including Yahoo.com, search, and their Flickr site, etc.
I know you guys are huge fans of Google (like over 50% of the news on this site is Google-related or mentions Google?), but it’s not everything, and not to everybody.
@frank burns: Competition is good. Having one person take the spot forever isn’t good. Look up “Google’s master plan” and you’ll see a video of what I’m talking about.
