Sun to Offer MSN Toolbar (cum Silverlight?) with Java

Java with MSN Toolbar The next time you download Java from Sun website, you’ll be offered the MSN toolbar for Internet Explorer as well.

This is part of a new deal between Sun and Microsoft to promote Windows Live Search and other Microsoft products like Hotmail and Live Messenger among Internet users who have Java on their desktops.

An interesting part of the deal is that Microsoft has decided to distribute MSN Toolbar with Java and not the more recent Windows Live Toolbar – I guess this is because MSN Toolbar includes Silverlight and Microsoft is certainly looking for ways to push their "Flash killer" on Windows desktops.

And in case you missed it, Google is no longer distributing StarOffice with Google Pack that also included the Java Runtime Environment.

Microsoft making moves to increase its market of Silverlight over Flash ,how many are using Silverlight as replacement to Flash in websites I don’t know .

So does this mean Google and Sun have parted ways ?

MSN Toolbar isn’t that great, unless you’re really into MSN content. They should have bundled the Windows Live Toolbar instead. WLT is great, and a better alternative to Google Toolbar.
