Yahoo! RSS Feeds Available for Web Search, Images & Video Search

Yahoo RSS FeedsFollowing this story on Windows Live Search tricks, Polly Alida shares a simple hack that will help you create RSS feeds for Yahoo! search pages.

And you are not just limited to web search, the same trick can also generate RSS feeds for Yahoo! Images, News and Video search results.

RSS Feeds for Yahoo! Search Results

Following are the different feed addresses for Yahoo! - just replace keyword with your own search query or phrase before subscribing to that feed.

Web Search: http://search.yahooapis.com/WebSearchService/rss/webSearch.xml? appid=yahoosearchwebrss&query=keyword

Videos: http://search.yahooapis.com/VideoSearchService/rss/videoSearch.xml? appid=ysearchblog&format=mpeg&query=keyword

Images: http://search.yahooapis.com/ImageSearchService/rss/imageSearch.xml? appid=yahoosearchimagerss&query=keyword

Yahoo! News: http://news.search.yahoo.com/news/rss?p=keyword

The images and video clips are available as media enclosures in the RSS feed so you can directly download them locally via any pod-catcher or your news reader itself.

SEO folks will also find these feeds useful for tracking new web pages that may creep up in Yahoo! search results for keywords of their clients or even for checking penalties.

Again, awesome tips, and I am very thankful for the goodies I get each day in my Inbox :-)

This isn’t new at all. Yahoo! has had feeds for all its searches since a very long time. Yes, maybe they didn’t put up a glowing neon sign on their pages telling people about it, but it was there all right.

Unless Yahoo! improves the relevancy of its search results no amount of features would help it beat google’s dominance. Google gives far better and relevant results for your queries.

Google has Google Alerts that lets you do just that without any hassles Yahoo puts you through.
