Use Yahoo! Glue Search Outside India With Yahoo! Alpha

Yahoo! India recently added an intelligent "glue" feature to their search pages. The idea is that you can find relevant web pages, images, videos, blogs and even music tracks related to your search terms on a single page.

For instance, a search for Paris Hilton on Yahoo! Glue would should you news stories from Yahoo! news, videos from YouTube, pictures from Yahoo! Images / Flickr and blogs related to Paris Hilton from Google Blog Search - all this information is laid out neatly on a single page.

While the current launch of Yahoo! Glue did generate lot of buzz, it is actually based on a project that has been cooking at Yahoo! Australia labs for over an year now - it’s called Yahoo! Alpha.

In fact, some may find Yahoo! Alpha search as more useful than Yahoo! Glue because it lets you pick individual search engines and you may also customize the layout of search pages. Here’s screenshot.

You can integrate any search engine into Yahoo! Alpha search as long as it supports OpenSearch specifications (like Wikipedia, Amazon, etc). Here’s another screenshot of Yahoo’s Custom Search builder interface. Give it a shot.

I think yahoo is not less than Google or Microsoft it just less strong in strategic marketing, while microsoft and google both have a UNIQUE feature yahoo is like jack of all cards and master of none…

I think yahoo should rise and start operations in other countries also like google and microsoft..

I like that so many individual info in different data formats are packed on a single page. That’s the future of search engines. Much more interesting mix, than only ‘boring’ text.
(Maybe, yahoo lacks committed passionate leaders, such as Brin and Page in Google and Gates, Balmer in Microsoft to promote their work in a much ‘louder’ and truly passionate way.)
