The top search result on google.com for the query "google" is google.com. Can you think of any other keywords and/or phrases for which google.com shows up at the top ?

for every combination which i used to see best search engine in google search only dogpile is coming…
google comes in top only if the word google is there in the search query… like “best search engine in web google”
i cant believe google is not showing up in top!!!

I always type “reader” into my firefox URL to get to Google Reader. I find it as fast as navigating the bookmarks.
“gcal,” “analytics,” “webmasters,” “code” also drive to Google services.
But for “mail”… top Google search is Yahoo mail.

Try ‘Froogle’.
But the main thing is forget keywords when its Google itself, Google is itself has become synonym for the English word, ‘Search’, the Google word is in hearts and in minds and need not a keyword for any newbie to find the top search engine on the web. We say I am doing ‘googling’ (searching… do not we?
The another reason of popularity of Google’s, is its link backs can you imagine a site / blog or an internet surfer who had never heard or used Google? I wonder…
Cheers : )

‘book search’ - first result
‘blog search’ - first result
‘video’ - google videos
..
..
in some regional site (ex: google.co.uk) if you search for ’search’ google is first url.

Am looking for search keywords that only return link as the top result, not any country-specific google domain.

In Firefox, when you type in a term and hit enter (location bar) it does an “I’m Feeling Lucky.” So it is plausibe that people would type in Google to get their iGoogle page or the like (Language Tools?).

they should the investors relations section just below search option. Probably that is why people are searching google and they same time they do not know about the GOOG as the keyword.
Probably, going by the information that a person is eeking they are looking for a search engine… they could provide Yahoo Search and cuil.com as search engine results…

Google Branded them as a search engine. Nobody think of the term search engine. Everybody using the term “Google” to denote Search Engine. If it is search engine, Then it is Google. You are Googling…

Sorry forgot to add one more comment. Why should people search for “Search Engine” inside the Search Engine (Google). They also found it. I think the Fundamental of the question is wrong.

Good find, Amit!
I think people who commented here didn’t get the point. Amit was asking for Search terms for which link is shown as the first result. Keywords like analytics, video etc would bring only Google sub-pages and not the Homepage.

How about ‘iGoogle’ - first

Searching for ‘iGoogle’ brings up link and not Google.com
