Can Newspapers Publish Photos from Social Sites like Facebook or Bebo

An increasing number of stories in newspapers, magazines and other print publications are taking photographs and other images from profiles on social networking websites like Bebo, Orkut, MySpace and Facebook. Is it legal ?

BBC - Journalists do have a right to use publicly accessible content and the public have responsibilities when they post it.

However the British Journal of Photography says that publication of images on social networks does not automatically grant rights to republish photograph elsewhere.

And some have complained of reporters posing as young people on social networking sites in order to obtain quotes. Link.
