Live Documents - An Online Twin of Microsoft Office 2007

I spent some time with Live Documents today (they are slowly opening the gates) and it was like running Microsoft Office 2007 inside the browser.

The ribbon layouts, icons, menu items, etc are an exact replica of what you see in Office 2007 programs. See some latest screenshots of Office Live Documents (click to enlarge).

The software is not as responsive as Google Docs or Zoho Office but it’s still a preview version so that could change. However, the interface and features are really good courtesy all the research done by Microsoft Office team.

If Live Documents manage to stay away from the legal eye of Microsoft, they will definitely make some impact among existing online office suites.

I believe this post is missing the url of the product site being reviewed/talked about. Good review though, and I dont mind an all image post especially when its the look and feel of the S/W you’re talking about a good image goes a long way in getting your point across. Keep it up :)

It looks like Microsoft Office, before Live Documents releases it officially maybe they should change the design add their own features, they don’t have to imitate Microsoft. Also if possible they should change the name it may be confused with Microsoft’s Live.com. Microsoft Office does the same copies and incorporates other companies features.

Yeah, I second the notion that this is missing a link. Your review did its job, now I want to use it. Thanks!

Live-documents.com is the URL AFAIR. Also the services is in closed beta which means that you won’t be able to use it yet. You have to get an invite first. So don’t lambast the poor Amit.

Talk about being un-original. What a lame approach towards a startup. I wish they get sued and shut down. It seems a pathetic way of getting acquired by Microsoft.

Yes a me-too lame approach. And although it’s in beta, its speed is worst than alpha.
