TIME Magazine: The Best Websites of 2008

Anita Hamilton of TIMETIME magazine has released yet another list of 50 websites that they say are the best and most useful sites of 2008.

While Anita Hamilton of TIME has done some good research in picking the sites, the problem is that it requires way too much effort for you to read the full list because the article is spread across 50 web pages.

For those who have the time and energy to make 50 mouse clicks just for reading an article, do check these sub-sections:

10 Essential Sites – There are some sites that you go to over and over again that never fail.

10 Social Networking Apps – Here are ten applications you can add to your personal page (on MySpace, Facebook) to make it more engaging.

I am not satisfied with this ranking, from my point of view, google/Yahoo should be first, becasue we use them to go to wikipedia, there are lots of other more important then Yelp or flickr.

The list is totally irrelevant to Indian netizens. Amit why don’t you come up with something like that for India :)

Yeah i know they just narrow down just taking US and nearby territories into concern. I guess thz not global survey or study right?

Anyways we all know which site comes into mind first when we say web/internet. Google/Yahoo thats the reason they are World leaders

All of them are non-tech sites.

As the first page says:
“give you something to do when you had nothing planned for the day. Put them all together and they become TIME.com’s 2008 picks”

You can access the entire list of URLs in one page here:

It’s really very difficult to come up with 50 best websites from among billions of sites. It’s also difficult to say this site is best for the whole world. The site which is best for one country may not even noticeable in another.
