TechCrunch Is a Blog Because It’s on Wordpress

Q (for Michael Arrington): Why do you call yourself a blog and not an online publication?

A. One reason is we that use Word Press, which is free blogging software. But the thing that really makes it a blog are the comments from readers and the fact that we have a real-time discussion. If I’m getting facts wrong, they’re quickly corrected. If my point of view is too biased, people quickly counter it. It’s not just me sort of speaking to the masses, it’s everyone having a conversation. I just get to pick the topic.[Newsweek][tags]inspiration[/tags]

A site hosted on wordpress doesn’t mean that it has to be a blog! And regarding user interacting in a discussion.. many news sites also have the option for its readers to comment and discuss. Are they blogs? will they (if hosted on blogger, wordpress) be called blogs? I don’t think so..
