The Biggest Privacy Change in Orkut Yet - Private Scrapbooks

Good news - Orkut members can now block their scrapbooks from strangers and other peeping Toms. This was probably the biggest concern of Orkut users as anyone could read their scraps - but not anymore.

If you have been reading Digital Inspiration for some time, you knew this was coming (read point #1).

So for those who are not comfortable showing your scraps to the whole Orkut community, just head over to the Privacy settings and select only “friends” from the Scrapbook option. Thanks Zachary.

Amit, well - somehow this feature doesn’t make sense unless you try to bring in the same thing as facebook where the whole profile can be restricted. We don’t have to have such a granular restriction mechanism because segregation of levels among friends is something orkut has still not explored. I mean - only best friends should be able to view video, and not friend - different settings for each groups i.e. like how Facebook has for everything - friends+network, friends, no-one etc.

Scrapbooks got private about a week ago - labnol reporting them late? :O ;-)

This was a much needed feature. Next if they can give you flexibility to make selective scraps personal (not evene visible to friends) that will be gr8

This is nice feature. An argument would be add to this article. Many people use orkut to notify events, products and so on.. such undesired scraps now can be avoided. And is nice to know that only related can see our network comunications. This is serius issue, not every one can investigate our live without asking to be a friend. :P
This make sense at all.
