The Indian embassy has voiced its displeasure over reports that Bangladesh is is planning an exact replica of the Taj Mahal about 30 kilometers northeast of the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka.

Since the replica is both an exact replica and the exact size of the Taj Mahal, this could be in violation of international copyright laws according to a spokesman of the Indian High Commission.

In a similar case, Egypt formally copyrighted the design of the Pyramids and other monuments, requiring anyone who made a copy to pay them a royalty.
