Gmail Email Loading Screen for Slow Internet Connections
Google today rolled out a small improvement in the Gmail loading screen - it now gives you an option to switch from standard view to the basic HTML view if you are browsing with a slow Internet connection.
You can further improve the Gmail loading speed by appending the nocheckbrowser parameter to the URL as it will force Gmail to skip the default browser check. Thanks NGAC.

ya, i too observe the same thing today while opening my Gmail Inbox… Moreover i observed that there is no message for Firefox with firebug enabled. In previous version, when we open Gmail in firebug enabled Firefox, it was giving message that Gmail may be running slow due to firebug, Fix This. But i haven’t seen than message today ;)
I guess it disables Firebug automatically if it is already enabled…
Hey amit bro u shud hide ur mail ID or the spammers will bang your inbox :P
That’s great, but who’s still using slow internet connections nowadays? :-D
I notice the changes earlier today. It’s a nice improvement
While the appearance is different, on slower connections the ability to switch to html has always been there. Just thought you’d like to know :).
Its showing for all connections now..
As noted above, slow connection to html has been present for a while. Also, I note that the Gmail icon on the browser becomes active if you open a Google account with the same user name - e.g. Blogger…
The option to switch to “Older Version” always existed and is nothing new.
Yupz GMail has previously had a plain-text loading screen which usually says “Loading” (and an option to use basic mode if you’re on a slow connection).
But now it comes.. has silently rolled out an upgrade to the loading screen, which now sports a horizontal progress indicator
I typed an ’s’ after http and it loads fine on IE6, IE7, Firefox, SP2, Vista - wireless and land
