Thogh my account is not hijacked(nor I want it to be), preventive measures can be useful

If the hacker does not change my password, how will I know whether my account has been hacked?

Well, I have no idea what is creation date of my account. I only keep important mails and even though I did so I would have no way to check it if someone hack my account. Pretty useless this google form.

Would Google team have the date when I registered?

i dont think u can knw some one has hacked into ur account , unless they change ur pasword , mess with ur inbox , drafts , sent mails etc , which u might knw if u have quite important mails and provided you are observant

The only way to protect urself is use a very uncommon password

which doesnt have ur name
ur date of birth
name of a god or some thin

and USE a password which is a combination letter and alphabets , (preferable if a letter is case sensitive) and if u are too geeky thn u can always add some special character too

Last but most imp , keep away from links u get in messenger and other sites

always type gmail.com or yahoomail.com with ur own hands

have some kinda toolbar which can detect phishing sites

Yeah they will have the date, but the wont tell you that.. lolz

Its really helpful to use special characters like _, !, or $. It will make the hacker’s job more difficult.

Use 0 for o , $ for s, 1 for i and some Capital letters to create a strong password

One simple and non-technical answer to your question is, change your password frequently. The hacker will get less chance to cause trouble.

If I am not wrong then google shows you the last login time. If someone has hacked your account and logs into your account then this will change.

Google Adsense account is safe as it is encrypted and it does not share with Gmail account. Adsense is completely separate from one’s Google account.

Many of us would have deleted the welcome mail and do not remember when the account was created…

If the hacker mis uses your account (by sending obscene content in your identity etc), best option will be to file a police complaint. If google realizes that your Id is being misused and you have a FIR to back your claim of ownership of that account, I guess Google would respond much faster.

is there a way to find out how many times an ip address accessed your gmail? my gmail has been accessed and i want to know how many times by a certain person.

My email has been hacked and all my important emails are deleted.Before deleting they have fowarded to some external email id.I would to register a complaint with google.

My account wasn’t hacked, but I couldn’t gain access to it because of a password change snafu. I didn’t have access to the secondary email account, and I couldn’t wait for 1 – 5 days to gain access to it again. Thanks for the URL to the Gmail account form. I filled out that form, and within an hour Google responded with a solution, and now I have access.

FYI…for all you folks that have been G Mail hacked, email passwords changed, limited access to email, no access to G Mail email address (Like me)…G mail will NOT help you do anything if you do not have the info they ask you for…
You’re doing nothing but wasting your time if you don’t have the info…and it takes many many days to find this out waiting for a response from them…
Since no one knows that sort of info, I couldn’t provide it either and they told me that as far as they were concerned…the investigation was OVER!

I wrote to them and told them that I could provide them with info within the account, that they could ask me questions about but I guess a hacker could answer those too…
So……..I lost my G mail Email address, and all the info I had stored there and no one will do anything about it…
I can’t access it as G Mail claims there’s NO SUCH ADDRESS…
If that’s the case, one would think that the name was available yes?
Surprise…The name isn’t available as it’s already being used by another…Figure that one out…Google won’t even try to help with that either…
Don’t waste your time with recovery if you don’t have their required info…They can get to the bottom of the problem if they wanted to but choose not to…

First thing I suggest is changing to a account were the company actually cares about the people. Google will NOT help you in any way to recover your account unless ALL the info is accurate. I suggest going to yahoo instead, they have just added chat features as well and don’t have the MAJOR issues like google does in protecting users accounts or helping users and they are also FREE. I HAD an account with google until the password was change by either someone from google or a hacker…I say it was someone from google and was done intentionally to keep name spaces open for individuals who want premium accounts.

I wanted to share my experience using a gmail account…
When I discovered that my account was hacked by another person I tried complaining to Gmail through filling the form. Eventually Gmail allowed me to change the password and access the account back. But again the next morning to my surprise I discovered it hacked again by the same person.
This was quiet weird that both of us were able to access the account without knowing the password. Gmail may need to consider how to protect the privacy of the user… As one can hack into another account even without knowing the password.. the lacunae needs to be set right..
