Get your personal @live.com email address from Microsoft. Same as Windows Hotmail Live but cooler and short name.

The much awaited @live.com email addresses are now up for grabs but consider yourself lucky if you manage to get an email address of your choice.

While your favorite nickname could still be available, you are likely to encounter the above error during the sign-up process:

The only option – keep doing a refresh until Microsoft resolves the issue with Windows Live ID sign-up.

Yes I had some dramas initially :-) Now all good. I did not scramble though, since I had used a hack last november to get my firstname@live.com and .com.au :-)

If I remember correctly, you provided a hack long ago on how to obtain a @live.com address during a .NET passport signup by changing some JavaScript code.

I followed the non-working link from your post above on numerous accounts in the past few days to always get the error you displayed. However, I followed the top sign-up link from this page to have success on the first attempt. Maybe there is something wrong with the link.

There is nothing wrong with the link. It suddenly seems to have disappeared from the blog for some strange reason. It was this. The link which you have posted (Nathan) is only for hotmail.com signup.

I used the link to secure an @live email address which I can now use with all the live services. I’m not sure why you just saw hotmail options.
