Email Based File Conversion - Supports PDF, DOC, DOCX, MP3, etc.

Convert Images to PDF Here are five new additions to the list of Most Useful Email Addresses that help you instantly convert popular file formats like Office docs, PDF and music files via email attachments.

To use any of these email based file conversion services, just send your files (like DOCX, PDF, MP3, etc) as email attachments to the address of the conversion service and they’ll send back files in converted formats almost instantly.

1. mp3@koolwire.com - Convert WAV to MP3 format (file limit: 10 MB)

2. iPhone@pdfonline.com - Convert Microsoft Visio (VSD) and Word 2007 (DOCX) to PDF. You can send multiple file formats in the same email and the converted PDF documents will arrive in separate emails. Don’t get confused by the iphone word in the email address, it works just fine for the desktop and other wireless devices.

3. pdf@koolwire.com - Convert DOC, XLS or PPT files to PDF

4. doc@koolwire.com - Convert PDF to Word or RTF

5. wav@koolwire.com - Convert MP3 Songs to WAV files

The PDFOnline service support all Microsoft Office formats including the latest DOCX format but the file has to be less than 1 MB. You can use the Koolwire email conversion service to convert files as large as 10 MB.

These services are especially handy if your mobile phone doesn’t offer file viewer for particular formats  - like a BlackBerry cannot read Visio or Docx formats.

Hi Amit. I think this auseful sets of tools, it looks like their terms and conditions are pretty pro-consumer as well. An excerpt:

(v) You acknowledge and agree that the Input Files shall not be stored by Your Voice except for period of time strictly necessary to carry out file conversion operations. Once the conversion has been completed and the Output Files have been sent to your email address (or once downloaded by you in the case of larger files), both the Input Files and the Output Files will be deleted immediately. Your Voice will keep a system log exclusively in order to register the operations carried out. Therefore, you understand and agree that you must safely store a copy of the Input Files and of the Output Files in your own archives and/or computer system, both before and after the delivery of the Services, as applicable. Accordingly, Your Voice shall in no case be liable for the deletion of both the Input and the Output Files, for their deterioration or for loss of any information incorporated therein.

the pdf to doc did not work for me…i wonder if you have tried it. I also checked my spam folder but no email!!!

Ed: For me, the RTF version of the PDF arrived in less than a minute. Make sure your PDF is not protected.

Hey Amit, nice list!

Now I can uninstall some of the buggy conversion software that I use.

This part isn’t very pro-consumer:

In addition, by sending a Request for Services you expressly authorise and request Your Voice to add advertisement links or messages, including banners, audio and video messages, to the email you will receive with the Output Files attached.

Saying I “authorise” is one thing, saying I “request” advertising is going a bit far. ;-) So the cost of this free service is getting a bunch of adverts in the response message. I’ll stick with PDFCreator.

Interesting idea, maybe useful when you’re away from your regular tools, but I’d be more likely to use it (even with ads) if it was web-based. I don’t need yet another place I’ve handed my real e-mail address with no idea where it might go from there. Yes, they say they protect personal info but there are plenty of possible outs, so who really knows?

Nice! The turnaround for the e-mail conversion of a 23 page Word document to PDF was fairly quickly for me, about 45 seconds. However, the conversion did not activate all the links in the document. But, it’s a fair service and quite convenient.
