Who Is Sending Traffic to your Website

Sometimes it is not easy to determine the source that is driving traffic to your website.

Early this morning, one of our stories was receiving more than average web traffic though the story had neither hit Digg nor was it mentioned in any of the popular blogs.

According to the referral reports in Statcounter and Google Analytics, most of the traffic was originating from web mail websites like that of Gmail and Live Hotmail (see screenshot).

I guess this article was mentioned in some popular email newsletter that was delivered to subscribers this morning. People are visiting the article after clicking the link in their emails and hence most of the the referral traffic is coming via email websites.

hmmm…. your blog has been subscribed by more than 2K readers. at least, 50% of them are the loyal readers. but, for a newbie blogger like me, getting traffic from email readers, is a terribly difficult task. that’s why, to get more traffic, many newbie blogger make post in large number…ignoring they only copy-paste, did not focus… you are inspiring me to have a blog with quality content

Hans, same with you.

I’ve come here everyday, more than twice.

This blog inspired me so much.

Quality will always win out more than quantity. Yes, you may get that first look by posting a lot of mediocre material. However, when you post quality — you’ll likely engage the readers and they will return.

Thats a nice thing happening :)

Hans,

You could not be more right, my friend. Very insightful. I have been so frustrated because I want the traffic to be spoon-fed to me, but I realize that I have to work for it just like everything else.

Very interesting as one of the most underused promotional strategy has to be email marketing. And it seems like you’re getting quite a bit of traffic this way.

Great stuff. ;)

It is really so that new bloggers like me and many others worry about how to get more traffic. If you can exactly tell us how do we know about it, it will be helpful.
