Smashing Magazine has lot of good things to say about the new design of TechCrunch though it may not be that friendly for readers who are on a slow web connection.

Smashing Magazine has lot of good things to say about the new design of TechCrunch. I couldn’t agree more with their opinions though the bulky pages may not be that friendly for readers who are on a slow web connection.

"TechCrunch’s new design removes every single unnecessary graphical element from the page. What’s left is just the content, advertising and navigation. Subtle lines and grey shades give the page structure, yet the interface is almost invisible and places content straight into the front row. For a blog that posts several new articles a day, this format is ideal because it facilitates fast and easy access to the content."

I really like the redesign of DI as well especially the new title with a snippet on the front page.

I started reading Techcrunch only after the redesign though, the previous one was so amateurish.

I like the new plain and simple look of the site, however for me it still has to many ads, but that is just my opinion.
Smashing Magazine is a brilliant site, take a look at these beautiful macro images from the website, nothing to do with web design but they are fantastic.
