If you ever wanted to know how much user generated content is getting produced per hour, here are some interesting comparisons:

A VHS tape can hold about 3.5 hours of video. Since 20 hours of video are uploaded onto YouTube every minute, it means around 350 VHS tapes make their way into YouTube every hour.
A typical (physical) photo album contains about 100 photographs. That means people around the world are uploading 384 new photo albums to Flickr every hour. And if we were to burn all the 10 billion photos from Facebook onto DVDs, that would require around a quarter million disks.

Hi Amit,
Really these companies have to invest a lot of money in storing the user generated data. In this matter yahoo seems to be little safer than Google. You tube is the junkyard of videos and Google must continuously do research on compressing videos.
