Hitwise weekly search data seems to suggest that, for the first time, more people in UK searched for Google Chrome than Internet Explorer.

And this is not just happening in the UK. The global figures from Google Trends also show that worldwide traffic for the search term “google chrome” overtook “internet explorer” during that same week.

Why would people search “Internet Explorer” when they already have it in all likelihood given 90+ percent machines have Windows OS with IE icon on the Desktop?

Did you know Google have also used large full-page ads in free and paid newspapers to advertise Chrome? This was timed with the Mac and Linux versions coming out of beta.
This will have had a big impact on people searching for Chrome.
At least, the ads appeared in the Dutch press, not sure about the rest of the world, but I guess so. Can anyone else confirm any other countries?

IE is not a new kid in the block to search and everyone knows what IE is all about and now its time for FF and Chrome to hit the markets with their advts and strategies.

This link shows the product quality of FF where as IE is not ranked anywhere near FF.

Firefox was the application that had the most reported vulnerabilities this year, while holes in Adobe software more than tripled from a year ago, according to statistics compiled by Qualys, a vulnerability management provider.

Qualys tallied 102 vulnerabilities that were found in Firefox this year, up from 90 last year. The numbers are based on running totals in the National Vulnerability Database.

That is because IE is already installed and auto upgraded if you turn windows updates on.
