I was looking around the iTunes Store this morning and was a bit surprised to see that the store did not show a single iPhone app for the term “bollywood songs”. It did return a couple of apps when I changed the search term to “hindi music” but these apps were either pointing to some Internet radio stations or had something to do with Indian mythology.

If you are a fan of Bollywood music but are still struggling to find a decent app that will help you listen to streaming music of your choice on your iPhone or iPod Touch, check out m.dhingana.com from your mobile Safar browser.

Using Dhingana, you can not only listen to Bollywood and other Indian music on your iPhone for free but the good part is that even if you move Safari to the background, the music will continue to play. The player will however stop if you open another website in Safari.

If you have an account with Dhingana, you can create your own music playlists from the desktop and listen to them on your iPhone (or iPod touch) while you are driving or travelling in the subway.

In addition to the iPhone, Dhingana music gadgets are also available for Orkut and Gmail or iGoogle.
