‘Unofficial’ Google Maps Blogger Lands Job at Google

mike-pegg Blogging can get you noticed and may even help you land a job in your dream company.

Mike Pegg from Canada has been diligently writing the Google Maps Mania blog for the past three years on all things related to Google Maps. His blogspot blog features an excellent collection of mashups and tools ever created using the Google Maps API.

And now this “unofficial” Google Maps bloggers has been offered an “official” position at Google for doing what he loves – promote Google Maps.

He has joined the geo-marketing team at Google as a product marketing manager for the Google Maps API.

The Google Maps Mania blog will continue to live though Mike has handed over the reigns to Keir Clarke – another Google Maps enthusiasts.

It is always good to hear that blogs lead to people either getting jobs or being paid because they blog.

In this case I guess we should apply the reverse psychology on the thoughts that you should leave your job to continue blogging. Nevertheless I do think that Mike will be asked to continue blogging because that’s what took him there.

Blogging is a part and parcel of life now and I really enjoy reading newer and newer guys but its always nice to hear blogging making a difference to people’s life.

Kudos to Mike for loving what he did and congratulations to him for getting what he wanted :).

Congrats Mike. Atlast he was rewarded. Ending up in the dream company is not something that happens daily….

Isn’t that the dream of everyone… to do what you love to do and then make money from it. A lot of people have blogged their way to success and the trend is growing.
