You can now publish your blog (or any RSS feed) for sale on the Amazon Kindle store and Amazon will share revenue with you for every Kindle user who subscribes to your feed. The facility is available to all bloggers worldwide.
How much can you earn from Kindle Publishing
Though you have no say in setting the price of your blog, most blogs on Kindle are currently available for a monthly subscription fee of $.99 to $1.99 and your share of revenue is fixed at 30%.
You can therefore expect around 30ยข per month per Kindle subscriber which may seem like a small amount but it at least widens the reach of your content.
How to Publish Your Blog on Kindle
Earlier you had to partner with Newstex for getting your blog on the Amazon store but now the process is much less complicated.
If your blog content is available in languages like English, Spanish, French, Italian or German, simply fill this form (create a new account, don’t use your existing Amazon.com account credentials), add the RSS feed of your blog and submit. You may add any number of blogs or news feeds to your account.
Once Amazon approves your blog, it will be available to Kindle users on the Amazon Store and also Amazon Associates.
You”ll also need a 800x 600 screenshot image of your Blog home page and 430×50 banner or logo of your blog. Make sure you use a proper image format (I recommend PNG 24 bit) as that will appear on the Amazon.com product page where customers will view your blog before subscribing.
Your Blog on Kindle – Screenshots
Kindle Blogs are auto-delivered wirelessly to the Kindle and updated throughout the day. They are fully downloaded onto your Kindle so you can read them even when you’re not wirelessly connected (offline reading). And unlike RSS readers which often only provide headlines, Blogs on Kindle contain full text content and most images so you should submit full text feeds.
In case you don’t have a Kindle device to test the layout of your blog on the e-ink screen, Amazon provides a preview feature (available at the time of adding your blog) so you can know how the feed will appear on the Kindle screen. Here are some screenshots:
Payments for Kindle Subscriptions
Amazon will pay you 30% of the monthly blog subscription price for every Kindle subscriber to your blog. The payment will be made via EFT if you are based in US or via check for bloggers outside US. There’s no fee associated with the check for international publishers or those who reside outside America.

Thanks for that info Amit!
Three cheers to Amazon!

Interesting idea but I wonder if anyone will actually pay to read blogs that are freely available anyway. Sure Kindle is smaller than a laptop, but it is bigger than a mobile device. And blogs are available free to read on mobile devices. So I am wondering how this will be beneficial for Amazon and Kindle owners.

Do you have any idea if Amazon Kindle supports Indic fonts?

You need bank account details only if you are planning for Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT).

Amit, great information!! Have you posted your blog yet? I just posted my own. I’ll let you know if I’m approved and how long it takes – so others know the success rate.
When back in the States (my Kindle only seems to work there – when will there be international options?), I’ll look for ours on my Kindle).
Gautam, I wonder the same thing. Yet there are still a lot of people I don’t understand.

I go with Manish…. Why would anyone pay for a free feed? May be we are missing something in this “new business model”?

You can choose the Payment option as check if you are from outside US.

Really useful information but what did you selected in the payment option.?
Amit – Printed Check that will be delivered via postal snail mail.

Do you have to publish full text feeds for this to be a viable option?
Written by Roger on 05.14.09
Like what Manish says, to pay for a blog? There are dozens of blog directories, where visitors could easily find categorized quality blogs for free. Perhaps blogs are to compliment any audio books or MP3’s in Amazon’s database, and to help them reach a larger online audience, as 1000’s subscribe to blogs.

Nice one Amit, adding my blogs right now!

That is useful information. But as labnol readers have pointed out , ppl would not pay money to read blogs that are freely available on internet ,unless they don’t want to wait to connect to internet and then read the blog posts.
So it will be a great source of income for those bloggers who publish breaking news or something of that kind.
