If you could ask a direct question to the Search Quality Team at Google that may help improve the visibility of your site in Google search results, what would it be?
The Search Quality group at Google is going to great lengths to help websites perform better in Google. For instance, their team members are pretty active in online forums where anyone can ask search and SEO related questions.
They have a dedicated YouTube Channel and a blog where you can routinely find new tips and useful advice. The group also published a detailed illustrated SEO Guide [PDF] sometime back to help website owners learn about the various factors that may impact a site’s ranking in search engines.
Now it’s your turn to ask questions!
The Search Quality Team at Google India is doing an open Q&A here on search and SEO related topics so you have an opportunity to get your queries resolved from the people who know it best.
To get started, just submit your question(s) (closed) and I’ll pass them to the Google Quality team. Their responses will get published here sometime next week.
What should you ask Google?
There are no guidelines or rules but it would be great if you can ask questions that will help a broader set of people. Let me share some queries that may benefit all though you are most welcome to ask questions specific to your site:
- I have an XML sitemap that lists all the pages of my website. Should I also create an HTML based sitemap for “human” traffic?
- Google now considers page loading speed as one of the factors in rankings. Does that mean I should now switch my blog to a faster, and more expensive, web host or even consider a CDN?
- Do ads on a page affect search engine rankings?
- The content of my website is actively shared on social sites like Facebook and Twitter – will this help my site rank better in Google?
Thank you Zareen Kazim, Gaurav Bhaskar and Koti Ivaturi.
