Onion Map has a great collection of interactive 3D maps of some of the most world’s popular cities.
You can zoom and move around the place just like Google Maps but this is lot more clean and interesting. Foreign tourists will also find these maps very useful since all the major city attractions, hotels & restaurants, shopping joints, etc. are very clearly marked. Thanks GeekSugar.

It would be interesting of DI could also provide some pros and cons of these new start ups. I am noticing this trend for quite a few posts now.
For example, one can zoom in and out of these onion maps but not like Google maps, as it does not provide zoom with mouse wheel. Also it is cleaner because it has very less data. I think I should unsubscribe from DI as it is an advertising campaign now rather than an objective analysis of anything.

Besides the fact they consider NYC is only downtown, certainly very nice!

Upon reading ‘Onion Maps’ in the headline, I thought these would be satirical maps from The Onion.
I’d like to see unique URLs to make it easier to link directly to a specific map without registering.

This is so cool. Having an interactive 3D map to show places in India is going to be a real challenge though.

I still believe that LonelyPlanet with Google Maps is the best combo, isn’t it?
