The sarkari babus in India are blogging! The tech-savvy Income Tax Department of India under the Ministry of Finance now has an official blog (yes, with feeds) to connect better with the tax payers of India.

The Income Tax Department hopes to gather feedback from tax-payers through the blog and also answer the tax related questions of users. However, this  IT department blog, hosted on Central Board of Direct Taxes website, is not intended for raising case-specific grievances for redressal.

You may already find articles on new income tax forms, PAN/TAN, preparation and online filing of returns, getting tax refunds, etc. Other than reading articles on Taxation, anyone can register and setup their own account on blog.

While the blog scores low on usability and content, it is sure to benefit the millions of Indian taxpayers who desperately need a space to discuss their tax problems other than the lawyer who charges per visit.
