YouTube India To Have Indian Movie Trailers and TV Shows

youtube india website

Google India will soon launch a new YouTube India website at www.youtube.in that will host and aggregate India specific video content including movie trailers and television shows.

This is quite a possibility as both probable web domains for YouTube India - www.youtube.in and www.youtube.co.in - are registered but empty. Maybe the Google legal team has already sent Cease and Desist letters to the original owners of these domains.

That said, is there a real need for an India specific YouTube website when there’s so much Indian video content already uploaded on the YouTube International website - you name a Bollywood blockbuster, movie song, TV serial episode or any of the cricket matches and chances are that the video is already up on YouTube.

I think the real advantage will be when Google decided to launch a local language edition of the YouTube site where even non-English speaking visitors can search for videos in their own mother tongue.

Another English based version of YouTube may not be that big a success in India. Maybe Google could extend the transliteration feature in YouTube that’s already live on Orkut and Blogger for most Indian languages. [via]

This morning I found in.youtube.com on. The Feature Videos listed indian content only. That is a huge boost to performers. Thanks and congratulations to You Tube management.
