Buy a personalised Tata Nano sitting at home

Tata NanoEven before its market launch expected around October, Tata’s People Car, Nano is already creating waves among its potential buyers.

Nano’s website It is giving an option of personalising your car by selecting various features such as colour, dash board, seat covers, fog lamps, alloy wheels, decals and scoop trim.

The website is also conducting a survey in which it asks users about the features that should be present in its 3 models - Standard, Deluxe and Luxury. The website also asks users to enter the price they are willing to pay for each model.

Tata Motors is also exploring an option of starting a new delivery channel where customers can buy the car online through e-dealers. However, the company is first asking for suggestions on its blog about this delivery channel as it is a new and untested concept in India.

The concept of buying car online is popular in Western nations and companies like GM and Toyota have used this option. In India, online car sites are popular among buying and selling of second hand cars.

However it is still doubtful whether this concept would be popular in India as for Indian consumers buying a car is considered a big event and they would feel the need of touch and buy.

But the need of conventional dealers could never reduce, as there are many more activities post-purchase which are required like service and spares which can only be done through a physical channel.
