Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Essar have just confirmed the launch date of iPhone 3G in India.
Both cellular companies will start selling this much awaited phone in India from August 22. Am still thinking whether or not to replace my trusted BlackBerry Curve with an iPhone.
There’s no word on the pricing of the phone yet. Details on PTI and Mint.

Finally price matters… If its more than 16K for 8GB (http://www.business-standard.com/india/storypage.php?autono=327974), then i guess apple/airtel wont get enough market… if its less than that then probably good to take a chance…

I also wanted to shift as soon as possible, but not being able to copy mp3 directly from my system, not being able to use it as memory drive as powerful detterents… Hope iPhone supports both of these soon.. Then people like us will flock to buy iphones.

i phone price starts from Rs.8600 to Rs.24000.
the price differs with the model and memory requirements. but every i phone has 3g,gps and maps for 6 months(free). If you are a airtel subscriber then the usage of maps is free, but not for vodafone….

Atlast Apple Inc. has started to think india as big market. I hope price would matter to the people but as far the iphone is concerned it would be reasonably right compare to new zealand and australian market where they put you on contract for 2 years and in the end, you end up paying up 6000$ for iphone.

Guys, what would be the best price for a 3G iPhone in India (consider the US price $2500 - $3500)? How can we decide whether to buy or not in India? Money really matters. I will consider iphone only if it in the rage of 15-20K, and most of the Indians I think. (what would be the best mobile I can get in that range?)
How adivicable a iPhone for a normal end user who won’t require it’s hifi features?

Well! That is fantastic to know that our market would now have such a smart 3G phone but the sad part is that we still DONT have a 3G spectrum service provider.
We cant use those features what Iphones offers as a trade mark.
It is just like having a magic stick but dont know the spell.
Any ways, it has been launched today(Aug/22/08) successfully by airtel and Vodafone with a price range of about Rs, 31,000 to Rs,36,000. We are hoping a decline in the price quote very soon.
