In what could possibly become the biggest automobile acquisition by an Indian firm, Tata Motors is believed to be evaluating a bid for the Jaguar and Land Rover brands.

The two brands have been earmarked for disposal by struggling American car company Ford. The valuations of these two brands have been pegged at about $1.5bn.

Tata has already carried India’s biggest foreign takeover by acquiring Corus for £6.7bn and if the Ford deal materialises, it would be a feather in its cap this year. via
