ADAG LogoAnil Ambani’s Reliance Entertainment (to be soon named Big Entertainment) is soon going to launch a news portal on the lines of rediff.com, indiatimes.com under its flagship banner ‘Big’.

The portal will be in sync with the group’s telecom and entertainment businesses and will develop content for its other businesses. It will also help ADAG to feed news and current affairs programme to its IPTV network due to be launched soon.

ADAG has also taken substantial stakes in news groups such as TV Today and NDTV, which may help in getting content for its portal. It will also feed news content on the mobile services of Reliance Communications and also on its FM network, Big 92.7 FM.

ADAG recently has ventured into the online space through its gaming portal zapak.com, social networking site bigadda.com and plans to launch online DVD rental service bigflicks.com. It is also venturing into DTH through Reliance Bluemagic.

In future, it seems that the company may converge all its online operations under a single big portal which would have e-mail services, e-shopping, gaming, news content, discussion and entertainment sub-portal. [via]
