The Indian entertainment industry growing at CAGR of 18% is attracting international players to exploit the opportunities. The multiplex business is specially considered lucrative owing to an estimated shortfall of 40,000 screens.
Global entertainment players Warner Bros and Sony Pictures in partnership with DLF are planning to enter India’s multiplex industry. This would provide Indians with quality infrastructure, technology and get the latest international titles directly to their local screens.
Warner Brothers already has multiplex business through Warner Bros International Cinema and has 170 cinemas and 1600 screens in 11 countries. But Sony Pictures is yet to make a foray into multiplex though it has a diversified entertainment portfolio.
DLF through DT Cinemas is expanding its multiplex business by setting up screens in major Indian cities catering to high-end customers. Later on it would venture into Tier-2 cities. via
