Book Your iPhone 3G with Airtel or Vodafone India
Finally some good news for iPhone lovers in India. For the first time, there is an official communiqué regarding iPhone launch from Bharti Airtel and Vodafone India on the same.
The only issue still remains is that both Vodafone and Airtel would launch the iPhone 3G model in India although India has only 2G compatible networks, so some of the features may not work.
Vodafone is giving option of pre-booking the iPhone through its website whereby you could be the among the initial ones to own it once its launched in India this year.
Reacting to Vodafone’s pre-booking announcement, Airtel quickly launched their own page where iPhone fans can register for future updates about iPhone availability and price.

I wonder whether India has any 3G circles in operation. I can only think of 4 or 5 metros in India that MAY currently have 3G services, or, plan to start at. And it will be even stranger, when people from other cities buy the 3G iPhone, probably just for the craze of it. I guess educating the masses about 3G is more relevant than simply bragging about their (Vodafone) new possession.
BTW: Are you in for it Amit? I am waiting for Jul 11, when it’ll be available with ATT.

when i enquired from vodafone, they said that iphone will be available in india only by 2009.
so if i bring it from US,will it work over here.(i mean should it be unlocked as the previous one,to make it work).Is there any deal with AT&T??.

Can anyone tell me about the exact date of launch of i phone in India by Vodafone. Earlier it was 11 July, Now Aug/Sep, is what people say.
