Airtel digital TV interactive, the name for its IPTV services has been launched this month but is available only to residents of Delhi and NCR.
The new service would surely gain acceptance especially because its a Triple Play – TV, Phone and Internet, and that the total cost would work out to be lesser than individual cost.
Airtel’s IPTV cost includes one time cost of Rs.4000 and per month charges of 999.00. In these the consumer will get 135 TV channels and unlimited broadband speed of 256kbps.
Apart from this there are certain benefits and services which are not available to DTH operations. Moreover it is more interactive, saves space and feature-led.
Airtel may certainly have a distinct advantage as it is among the first private player to launch IPTV, however it needs to expand its operations as Reliance IPTV is soon planning to launch their services which is expected to gain further acceptance.
