The consumer durables and information technology (CDIT) segment is witnessing increased participation from the big retail players. After Pantaloon’s e-zone, Tata’s Croma and Reliance Digital, it’s now Aditya Birla Retail that will soon launch a speciaility CDIT store in Pune.
The group has already has a presence in this segment through its Trinethra Hypermarket in Mysore. It sources its products from suppliers such as Godrej, Videocon, LG and Samsung
Aditya Birla Retail plans to open 150 such outlets by 2010. Industry expects the contribution of this segment in the total retail turnover to go upto 20% from current 10%. [via]

Sounds interesting, but will they really survive in this market, where money matter more over quality. They need to keep this stuff in mind.
Especially we see some great offers by one of the chain in north India NEXT. they would be requiring to get some great bast buy offers to reach a sustainable level…
