iPhone 3G may sell in India at a discount

Apple iPhone 3GAfter the pre-booking, Vodafone and Airtel are planning an early launch of Apple iPhone 3G by August and September respectively.

Earlier, there were news that iPhone would be cheaper only in US owing to Apple’s revenue sharing agreement with AT&T unlike India, where its only a direct selling agreement.

Although, the actual picture may be different as both Vodafone and Airtel may keep the price around the Rs.10,000-12,000 range even though its available to both companies at higher prices.

In such case, it is likely that the SIM card will have a lock-in period upto 18 months and a Rs.699 monthly plan for data and voice calls. source
