What is Xbox ? What is Price of Xbox in India ? How is it Different from Xbox 360, Wii or PS3 ?

Xbox is the console gaming division of Microsoft; what PlayStation is for Sony.

The Xbox console (the original Xbox) is now discontinued and the current Xbox console is called the Xbox 360. It is a direct competitor to the Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii.

Sales-wise and popularity-wise it falls somewhere between the Wii, which is in first, and the PS3 in third. However, the Wii is now losing (only slightly) sales and popularity, while the PS3 is gaining both, so its very even competition going into 2008.

The Xbox 360 however boasts what is undeniably the widest selection of games across genres to meet any gamer’s needs. The Xbox 360 also has Xbox LIVE, its online gaming service, which is way more popular than the online services on the Wii and PS3, and one of the XBox 360’s USPs

The Xbox 360 was launched in India in the 4th quarter of 2006. It was console of its generation to be launched in India. The PS3 followed in April 2007. The Wii hasn’t launched in India yet.

In India, the Xbox 360 is available in three models. The Core (basic model without a hard drive), the Pro (most popular, with 20GB hard drive), and Elite (HDMI input, 120GB hard drive). While the Core has been phased out elsewhere in the world it is still available in India.

I’m not up to date on the pricing but last I checked the prices were Core: Rs 14,000, Pro: Rs 23,000, Elite: Rs 35,000
