Sony Reader or Amazon Kindle - What Would You Pick

kindle sony readerWalt Mossberg was not very pleased with the hardware design of Amazon Kindle e-book reader though he did prefer it over Sony Reader for ease of downloading books.

But when fans asked Walt to pick just one of the two ebook readers, his choice was surprisingly Amazon Kindle (that costs $100 more than Sony Reader).

Considering that Walt’s review in WSJ can make or break products, this will be a big win for Amazon Kindle that also received quite a favorable review from David Pogue of New York Times.

Mossberg: I would choose the Kindle, despite its design problems. The Sony is slimmer, sturdier, and, unlike the Kindle, it isn’t prone to accidental button-pushing. But Amazon’s device can download books directly, without the need for a PC. Sony’s can’t. And Kindle’s online catalog of compatible titles is 90,000 books, more than triple the number Sony offers.
