   Hi, if I have 300 entries with 8 columns (like what I have below) in Word, how can I convert it to excel without typing each entry. Is there a software I can download to do this?

   address
   city
   state
   zip code
   contact person
   phone#
   email

   There is absolutely no need to get any SW. Simply copy the entire table from WORD and right click in EXCEL to PASTE SPECIAL. PASTE SPECIAL gives you many options to paste the content as. You can choose 'TEXT' if you simply need to retain the excel default format. Else you can choose from various other options like HTML etc.

   Copy the entire table in Word and paste that in Excel.

   Excel is smart enough to recognize tabular entries and auto-converts them into columns.

   If that doesn't work, attach some sample data here.

   Thanks, the way you explained it works quite
   well with columns. However I should have said I needed the data in ROWS instead of columns. The info is given to me like this:

   company
   address
   city
   state
   zip code

   but I need to put it into excel this way:
   Company Address City State Zipcode

   sorry for not clarifying this earlier.

   Even simpler.

   Copt data from WORD. Right click in EXCEL > PASTE SPECIAL > check the TRANSPOSE option.

   When I check Paste Special, I dont get a TRANSPOSE
   option. I get Picture, HTML, Unicode Text, Text and Hyperlink. I use Excel 2000.

    OK. The picture is now clear. Since your data source is from WORD, you would not get the TRANSPOSE option. We can bypass it this way:

    1. Copy data from WORD
    2. PASTE SPECIAL as TEXT in EXCEL
    3. Now that you have your data in EXCEL, again copy this data. This time not from WORD but from EXCEL
    4. Now try PASTE SPECIAL in a different row. You should be able to see the TRANSPOSE option :)
